1981

June: 120-bed nursing home was opened on twelve acres of land at the 1530 Assisi Drive Northwest Rochester. This new facility was named Samaritan Bethany Heights. 

1978

A feasibility study showed the need for additional nursing home beds in the Rochester area. 

1976

The new facility on 8th street was opened and residents were transferrded from the old 7th Street facility. The old facility was remodeled and converted to a board and lodging facility for elderly residents, and waas renamed the Samaritan Bethany manor.

1973

Plans were developed to build a 122 bed nursing home.

Oct 1: Samaritan Bethany Inc., took over the ownership and operation of the Samaritan Nursing Home. The name was changed to Samaritan Bethany home.

1922

The Men's fellowship of Peach United church of Christ of Rochester started the Samaritan Convalescent Hospital and Hotel. Locate at 25 7th Street Northwest. It was established and operated as an extension of the church.

1956

The need for long term care was growing, so the facility was remodeled to become a 113 bed nursing home and became known as the Samaritan Nursing Home. 

1970

The Samaritan board decided to merge with the Bethany Corporation. The Bethany Corporation, whose memebership was composed of represenrtatives form six American Luthern Churches in the Olmsted county area. 

1971

The Samaritan Bethany Corporation was formed and incorporated in the State of Minnesota. 

1981

1982

The Samaritan Bethany Foundation was incorporated to support an expansion of services to meet the changing needs of an aging population. The purpose of the Foundation is to support the programs of Samaritan bethany, Inc. 

1986

Samaritan bethany Home Health Services was created to expand available services. This service was housed at Samaritan Bethany Manor and was the first of our facilities to be certified as a Medicare provider. Services continued until July 2000.

1989

Plans for Arbor Terrace were developed to replace the aging Manor Building with a 66 unit apartment building.

 

1992

In July, Arbor Terrace opened at 700 2nd Avenue NW, adjacent to the Home on Eighth. In the fall, the Manor building was demolished to make room for an addition to the Home on Eight.

 

2001

In January, five additonal units were added to Samaritan bethany Terrace.

2000

February 1: Samaritan bethany Terrace was opened and was fully occupied by June.

 

1999

October: 224 assisted living units were created from a previously designated skilled nursing area on the 3rd floor of the Home on Eight, and would be known as Samaritan bethany Terrace. 

1995

 

Care connection opened, an Adult Day center that served the senior community unitl Novemeber 2000. 

 

2011

In 2011, Samaritan Bethany made a major renovation and additin to its facilites. the addition is a replacement for The Heights and a mjor renovation to the Home, locating all employees and residents on the same campus..

Both areas were designed to provide residents with services folowing the household model of care. Arbor terrace was remodeled to allow for Memory Care Services and for the relocation of the Samaritan Bethany Terrace Assisted Living Facility.
